We’ve finally done it! We’ve moved Mangrove Monkey® operations to sunny Naples, Florida. It was very difficult to leave behind our family and friends in beautiful Portland, Oregon, but the allure of southwest Florida was just too strong.
Our most loyal following know the overwhelming majority of our product is manufactured right here in Naples. We’ve always been proud of our quality assurance system in place and it has served us well, but if I as the owner can drop in on our local artisans to observe their craft in process, Mangrove Monkey® has strengthened its brand.
My name is Matt Ives and I am the chief "shaper" for Mangrove Monkey®. Given my formal background in design and fascination with surfing's legendary culture, manufacturing boarding apparel is more a calling than a means earninga living. While I try and have an eye on today's design sensibilities, my goal is more importantly to create timeless pieces.
I am happy to make Mangrove Monkey® available to you through Yahoo! Shopping. Not only does this venue provide respected name recognition, but more importantly, it is a place where buyers can be reassured of a safe environment when considering their valued purchases.
I have been approached by more than a few high profile mall outlets interested in carrying our line. This is both a very flattering and tempting proposition, but for now Mangrove Monkey® will continue to be positioned as an alternative to the monoliths manufacturing overseas. My focus is the discerning customer and I'm afraid that might change if I become a “vendor” for the mega-retail concerns.
